Data & Annotation Engineer - cropr

Will you help make our AI smarter with the right data? At cropr, we’re looking for a Data & Annotation Engineer to set up, coordinate, and continuously improve our image annotation and data pipeline processes. Our autonomous agricultural robot collects vast amounts of field images. These images form the foundation of our AI model training – but only if they’re properly labeled.

You’ll be responsible for organizing this entire process: from capturing images in the field to assigning annotation tasks, supporting annotators, performing quality checks, and preparing datasets for machine learning. You’ll work closely with colleagues in AI, software, and product development – as well as with external domain experts who provide high-quality labels.

You

• Have an MBO or HBO (associate’s or bachelor’s) degree in a technical field (e.g. AI, data science, computer science, or engineering)

• Are structured, organized, and know how to connect people and data at the right time

• Are comfortable working with image data, annotation tools, and AI-related applications

• Speak fluent Dutch and English – and can easily switch between end users and tech teams

• Take ownership over quality, progress, and clear communication

• Experience with tools like CVAT, Labelbox, or Roboflow is a plus

• Strong organizational and coordination skills

What you’ll be working on

As Data & Annotation Engineer, you’ll manage the full pipeline from image capture to clean, labeled data ready for AI training. You’ll write clear annotation guidelines, assign tasks to annotators (ranging from customers to internal testers), carry out sampling and quality checks, and make sure everything is properly logged and documented.

You’ll also help improve and scale the process – from smarter tooling to automation. You’ll support the AI team with structured, high-quality datasets and help our robot get smarter every day.
