Mechanical Engineer - cropr

At cropr, we’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer to take the lead in designing, building, and further developing the driving platform of our autonomous weeding robot. You’ll be involved from the very first sketch all the way to the prototype that independently performs in the field. Experience with agricultural machinery is a strong plus. Affinity with robust mechanics and smart engineering solutions is essential.

You

• Have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a related field

• Have experience in designing and calculating mechanical systems

• Enjoy hands-on work: from CAD modeling to building and testing in the workshop

• Know how to translate designs into prototypes and prepare for series production

• Experience with (or knowledge of) agricultural machinery or off-road robots is a plus

• Think in solutions and collaborate easily with fellow engineers

What you’ll be working on

As a Mechanical Engineer at cropr, you’ll work on the mechanical design of our autonomous robot – a machine that detects and destroys weeds without the use of herbicides. You ensure that the mobile platform is robust, reliable, and ready for manufacturing. You’ll collaborate closely with colleagues from software and electronics to integrate all subsystems.

You’ll test your designs in real-world settings, guide prototype construction, iterate based on findings, and help scale the system. From suspension to sensor housings, from drivetrain to maintainability – you keep the full picture in mind.

Your responsibilities

• Design and detail mechanical parts and assemblies in CAD (from concept to production-ready)

• Build, test, and improve prototypes based on practical feedback

• Ensure a robust, maintainable, and manufacturable mechanical design

• Collaborate with software and electronics teams to ensure system integration

• Analyze test data and translate insights into concrete design improvements

• Document design decisions and support the handover to production
