Embedded Software Engineer - cropr

Are you the Embedded Software Engineer who controls the motors, lasers and cameras that bring our agricultural robot to life?

Fulltime · Delft

At cropr we are building an autonomous laser-weeding robot that selectively destroys weeds without pesticides. It is a system where AI, powerful lasers, galvos, motors and high-speed cameras come together.

But to make that hardware really work together intelligently, we need someone who speaks the language of microcontrollers. Someone like you.

What you get

  • You directly contribute to more sustainable agriculture with robots that are actually deployed in the field.

  • A salary between €3,400 and €5,000 gross per month, depending on knowledge and experience.

  • 25 vacation days, with the possibility to buy additional days.

  • A close-knit, multidisciplinary engineering team with short communication lines.

  • A start-up environment with lots of freedom, fast decision-making and room for your ideas.

Who you are

  • You have a bachelor’s or master’s degree in embedded systems, mechatronics, electrical engineering or software engineering.

  • You have at least 2 years of work experience in which you have been able to apply your knowledge in practice, preferably in an embedded or hardware-near environment.

  • You work independently, but actively seek collaboration with other disciplines.

  • You have experience with C and with communication with microcontrollers or motor controllers.

  • It helps if you are familiar with CAN bus and understand PCB design.

  • It is convenient when you have experience with Python and Linux.

What you will do

As an Embedded Software Engineer you develop the software that runs directly on the robot.

  • You work with motor controllers, STM-microcontrollers, sensors, PCBs and real-time communication.

  • You make sure a laser fires at exactly the right time, a motor reaches exactly the right position, and our cameras stay in sync with the rest of the system.

  • You feel at home in C, in embedded environments, and in solving technical puzzles where hardware and software come together.

In this role you will spend a lot of time on the shop floor and next to the robot. You test, measure, inspect signals on an oscilloscope (you might even have one on your desk at home) and solve problems by truly understanding what is happening in the hardware.
You work closely with colleagues in electronics, mechanics, software and AI. Together you build a system that has to perform in the field. The great thing about this work is that your results are always visible: a better controlled galvo, a faster-responding motor, a laser that does exactly what you designed it to do.

About cropr

cropr has its roots in the successful tulip robot we developed within H2L Robotics. We are now building a scalable product that is ready for serious agricultural environments. The embedded software you write is crucial in this: without you there is no motion, no timing, no safety, no precision.

Does this sound like the place where your code really makes a difference?
