Freelance Data/AI Engineer
At H2L Robotics, we're looking for a freelance Mechatronics Technician to temporarily strengthen our team during a colleague’s paternity leave. Your main focus will be building Prototype 2 of our potato robot. This innovative machine can detect diseased potatoes in the field and autonomously eliminate them — an important step toward more sustainable agriculture. Field testing is coming up soon, and your contribution is crucial to make that happen.
In addition to working on the potato robot, there’s room to take on other technical projects within the organization — from building test setups to supporting production or development challenges. You'll work independently, but always stay connected to our small and agile team.
As a Mechatronics Technician at H2L Robotics, you’ll take a hands-on approach to solving technical challenges. You’ll seamlessly switch between mechanical, electrical, and software-related tasks — always looking for ways to improve, speed up or simplify processes.
Your key tasks will include:
Building prototype 2 of the potato robot in preparation for upcoming field tests.
Performing hands-on assembly, modifications, and troubleshooting.
Designing and building test setups for new or ongoing projects.
Supporting developers with technical challenges.
Contributing to other technical activities, depending on your experience and interests.
You're a practical technician who enjoys building, testing, and improving. You thrive in a small, flexible organization where you can take full ownership of your work. You're a quick learner, work methodically, and think ahead.
You bring:
MBO/HBO (associate/bachelor) level in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or a related field.
1–5 years of experience in a hands-on technical role.
Experience with mechanical and electrical assembly.
A valid driver’s license (B; B+E is a plus).
Strong communication skills in both Dutch and English.
At H2L Robotics, we develop smart, sustainable robots for agriculture — from weeding and harvesting automation to precision farming. Always with one goal: creating machines that truly work in the field.
Our potato robot is one of our latest innovations. It autonomously identifies and removes diseased potatoes, helping to protect healthy crops and increase yield. Prototype 2 is the next step toward a robust, fully functional system — and you can help make it a reality.
Not sure if you meet all the requirements? Don’t worry! At H2L, we value enthusiasm and fresh perspectives as much as experience. Feel free to apply, and let’s explore how your skills can make a difference.
